This month we really wanted to meet a mom in need of a pick me up! We received so many letters from local moms who were all so deserving of this experience! One submission in particular really touched Victoria and me. Bonnie, a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) nurse and mother of four wrote in to tell us a little about why she was in need of a pick me up.
Hello! Where do I begin lol. Being a ginger and being made fun of my whole life has not equipped me well with a great self esteem. I am a busy mom of 4 amazing kids while “taking on” a 5th kid who needed some extra love and TLC. With all these kids in my life I am constantly on the run. With the girls dancing and the boys playing soccer I barely find time for myself. In between all of this I work as a NICU nurse. I wear the same hair do as I did in 1998. Pulled back in a ponytail/bun with side swept bangs. When I look in the mirror I see tired. I want to be able to not only look at myself and feel good but also for others to see the light I have in me. I want my girls to find confidence in themselves through me.
For your consideration,
When Bonnie first arrived at Victoria’s studio in Burton she was very nervous. The talented Nicole of Lox Hair Studio and Ren of Beau Backstage Makeup immediately whisked her into the chair to start creating a look that would enhance and celebrate the exact traits that Bonnie had been insecure about for many years. It was because of her insecurities that we chose Bonnie. We saw her red hair and freckles as unique and really beautiful. We wanted to make her see and believe that these very qualities are stunning- that she is stunning.
As always, Victoria of Victoria West Portrait brilliantly captured the best of Bonnie. I often hesitate using the word ‘makeover’. I don’t believe most woman need to be made over but rather experience acceptance of who they are and just enhance what they already have.
I spoke with Bonnie after her shoot. She said “ I was in awe when I left thinking back to the shoot today… All the things that I hate about myself were the things that were emphasized today and almost celebrated, and I was able to view things differently.”
I’m so glad we could be a part of changing something within Bonnie. All woman deserve to feel beautiful and Bonnie was no exception. Thank you so much to Nicole, Ren and Victoria for volunteering your time and talents to help woman feel deserving of celebrating their uniqueness. You are all amazing and a part of something very special.
You are absolutely stunning and as the mother of two gingers., red hair and freckles are fabulous
Beautiful!
Thank you to Rebecca West, Victoria West, Ren Beau and Nicole Wilby-Weeks
For this amazing opportunity. You are all so incredibly talented at what you do, true artists!
When I seen the pictures I was sitting at a table at the Irving trying to contain my emotions. You all did an amazing job not only with the photos make up and hair but also at Making me feel so comfortable but most of all allowing me to see myself from a different perspective. You made this “tired ginger” really see that……I am pretty.
Bonnie
When she was born her mother and I knew she was a beautiful girl. We had the privilege of sharing owe life with. She was the youngest child, giving us one boy and one girl, Both these kids have brought joy to our existence and we now had the million dollar family (that’s is what it costs to raise them).
Bonnie-Jean,Bonnie to her friends, grew into a beautiful women who has given us four heathy and happy grandchildren. She should be very proud of the remarkable feats she has concurred or mastered. She is loved and respected by all that know her, and hopefully now she is aware of her unique and incredible beauty both inside and out.
Her Mom and I love our Baby.
Stunning! You seem so deserving. Women who run the NICU could run the world! And you have THE most beautiful hair, amazing.
You know a lot of women would love to have your natural beauty…we pay big bucks to get dye jobs that don’t last or measure up to your gorgeous color. Truthfully the first word that came to mind when I saw your picture was “Stunning”. It takes a big heart and a lot of compassion to work with both premature and sick infants. Thank you for all you do to help the weakest among us not only survive, but thrive.
Mom Talk Blog team, you have done it again!!!! What amazing and unique experiences you are creating for local mamas! ❤️
And Bonnie is STUNNING!!
Beautiful!!
