When Is The Right Time To See A Financial Adviser? | Nicola Morgan

Do you need a financial advisor?

We are surrounded by access to information, which can be a bonus and a burden at the same time.  It’s great that it is easy to look up things and there are so many apps available to help. But sometimes it can just be all too much to navigate.

I love budgeting apps, and credit monitoring apps and google for that matter, but the one thing that they can’t provide is a look at the complete picture.  This is where a actual human being comes in. Specifically, in this case, a Financial Advisor.

When should you see a Financial Advisor?

1. When you are going through personal changes

Having a baby, moving from dating to getting serious, moving in with your partner, getting married.

All of these are big transitions and you are in the thick of it.  A financial advisor is a neutral third party that can help you navigate the combining of 2 incomes, changing tax brackets, determining what you can afford for child care, when to start planning for your children’s education, estate planning, pre-marital agreements and the list goes on.

Money and finances can take it’s toll on relationships. A financial advisor can help facilitate those “uncomfortable conversations” while you are still in a comfortable setting.

You’d be surprised how many conversations I have with couples and it’s the first time they’ve ever talked about what happens if one of them dies, what their priorities are around saving and spending and even on how they want to manage their money.

2. Wealth changes

You got a promotion, or that brand new job with a nice pay increase, many you inherited a windfall.

A financial advisor will help you manage that money to avoid misspending. Every dollar of your money should have a purpose.

For those of you wondering, yes, fun is most definitely a purpose too.

3. Emotional Help

Markets go up and down. Life goes up and down. A financial advisor can be a source of calm in the chaos.  They also push you to be more honest about your finances.

I know it can take a lot to sit down with someone and be completely open about your finances, but if you are with the right Financial Advisor, you will feel comfortable and safe and will benefit from the honesty when it comes to taking control of your financial future.

As always, I’m here to answer any additional questions you might have, don’t hesitate to get in touch – I would love to connect!
