Tennis Camp + Mom Sanity | By Rebecca West

This post is presented in partnership with Abony Family Tennis Center

Summer always starts out so promising, right?  The lazy mornings, long warm days without the burdens of school and homework, sports and driving. But just wait… things may get dark.

According to this new study, the average parent only lasts 13 days into their kids’ summer break before going totally nuts.

To me, parents who don’t put their kids in summer camps or activities are like unicorns: Fascinating, rare and a threat to my understanding of reality. The truth is that no matter how hard I wish for it, I will never be a unicorn.

So, I’m setting myself up for parental summer success and vow to be more organized in my planning game, starting with the Abony Family Tennis Center

I can tell you first hand how awesome these programs are. Both my kids (ages 7 + 4) have taken part in tennis lessons through the AFTC and aside from the beautiful facilities, comfortable atmosphere, affordability and friendly staff – the instructors are really amazing with the kids and both mine picked up some serious skills quickly! The other thing I loved about our kids learning tennis, was it was something we could do as a family, unlike most other team sports. Note: I’m no Serena, but can hold my own against my 7 year old.

This summer, AFTC is offering both Outdoor Lessons and Multi-Sport Summer Camps. Check it out!

Outdoor Tennis Lessons

* Locations: New Maryland | Wilmot | Queen Square | Kimble

* Price: $20 per month ($5 x 4 lessons)

All equipment will be provided for the outdoor lessons, including rackets.

Tennis New Brunswick and the Abony Family Tennis Center are bringing tennis to you in your neighbourhood. It’s now easier than ever to learn to play tennis. Kids, teens, and adults can learn to serve, rally and score using appropriate equipment to GET you playing quickly. All classes will be delivered by Tennis Canada Certified instructors from the Abony Family Tennis Center.

Kids Tennis

Kids’ tennis introduces the sport of tennis in a fun and interactive way and ensures immediate success for players age 6-12 years old. Using softer balls, smaller courts and age-appropriate rackets it is now easier to learn to play a sport for life.

Kids will be grouped according to age and skill level where they will be coached using the red, orange or green balls on the appropriate court size. In the event of a difference in age or skill level, you will be contacted before the session starts.

Summer Camp

* Cost per week: Half Days $90 – $100 | Full Days $159 – $225

We are excited to offer new and improved camps this summer for kids 4 -14 years old. Our summer philosophy is to ensure campers are having fun while learning, playing, and competing to give them a well-rounded tennis experience. Our goal is to ensure that all kids attending our camps leave with enough confidence and skills that they can build on to play a sport for life.

We continue to offer a unique camp experience at the AFTC. This summer we have added two new camps to our menu of exciting weekly camps. We are introducing a tennis and adventure experience where campers will do adventure activities like looking for checkpoints, scavenger hunts, amazing race, and basic mapping. To end off the summer our last week will be a Rogers Rookie Tour Event where campers will play fun, yet competitive singles and doubles games.
