Is Fostering Right for You?

This post is presented by the Government of New Brunswick

From October 20-26, New Brunswick will celebrate National Foster Family Week. Foster families play a very important role in our child welfare system, and this week provides us with an opportunity to recognize the incredible work that is being done by our foster families around the province every day.

Foster families do amazing work. They provide a safe, stable and nurturing environment where children can feel at home, loved and supported when they are no longer able to live safely with their parents.

Foster families care for children and youth of all ages. Placements might last one day, several years, or anything in between.

Foster families can positively alter the lives of the children in their care, and these relationships can last a lifetime. There are many ways to help children and families, but none are more direct than becoming a foster family for a child in need of a safe home. Being a foster family can be one of life’s most rewarding experiences.

Have you thought about becoming a foster parent, but you’re just not sure if this is the right decision for you? HERE are some questions you should ask yourself that can help you make the right decision for you and your family. Find more information HERE

There is a need for foster families in all areas of the province. If you are interested in becoming a foster family, or would like more information, please visit the Social Development website or call 1-800-990-0119.
